The BB-HCM581/HCM580 camera lets you monitor very large areas with its maximum 360 degree pan and 158 degree tilt functions. A full 42x power zoom also makes it possible to check places in super-fine detail. Thanks to its PoE*1 capability, the camera can be installed in places where it is difficult to provide power, like on factory and warehouse ceilings, or near a building entranceway or elevator hall. And dual-stack IPv4/IPv6 protocol prepares it for IPv6 services. This lets you grab every business possibility by breaking distance and time barriers with Zero Distance Management*2. *1-1 PoE (Power over Ethernet) supplies power through an Ethernet cable.?

Zero Distant Management
Zero Distant Management is a new business style made possible by Panasonic Network Cameras. It allows safe, smooth, economical business management that is totally free from conventional distance and time limitations.

Simultaneous MPEG-4 and JPEG
Cameras simultaneously send MPEG-4 images in three resolutions (VGA*, QVGA, and SCIF), and JPEG images in the same three resolutions in favour motion, standard, and favour clarity image-quality types. MPEG-4 is recommended for viewing smooth motion images, and JPEG is recommended for recording higher quality images.

MPEG-4 Visual License
This product is licensed under the MPEG-4 Visual patent portfolio license for the personal and noncommercial use of a consumer for (i) encoding video in compliance with the MPEG-4 Visual Standard (“MPEG-4 Video”) and/or (ii) decoding MPEG-4 Video that was encoded by a consumer engaged in a personal and non-commercial activity and/or was obtained from a video provider licensed by MPEG LA to provide MPEG-4 Video. No license is granted or shall be implied for any other use. Additional information including that relating to promotional, internal and commercial uses and licensing may be obtained from MPEG LA, LLC.

* * When viewing in VGA, only MPEG-4 playback offers a maximum of 30 fps.

42 x Zoom (21 Optical & 2x Digital) Function
You can use the zoom function to get a close, detailed look at certain parts of the image while you are monitoring. The 42x zoom is especially convenient for monitoring areas that have considerable depth.

Progressive Scan
Progressive scanning provides better image quality than the interlace scanning system that is commonly used in TV broadcasting, and captures fast-moving subjects without blurring or color bleeding.

Analog Video Output*1
By connecting a cable directly to the camera's video output terminal, you can use your existing TV or video recorder for monitoring. When using analog video output, the camera automatically switches to interlace scanning*2 to suppress flicker in motion images.

* *1-1 Compatible with both NTSC and PALsystems.
* *1-2 A mini video cable (with 3.5-mm mini plug) is required.
* *1-3 The camera cannot be controlled with analog video output.
* *1-4 The video image displays poorly in color night view mode.
* *2 Images are output to the PC with progressive scanning.

Colour Night View Mode (0.09 lux) & CCD Sensor
When the subject darkens, the camera automatically adjusts the brightness to show you the image. A CCD image sensor and smooth motion capture at 30 frames/sec*2 combine to let you see down to a minimum of 0.09 lux. You see clear, easy-to-view images even in the dark.

* *1-1 The image tends to blur more than that in standard mode when viewing a moving subject in low light or when using the pan, tilt, or zoom function. * *1-2 Some subjects may require additional time for focusing with the auto focus function.
* *1-3 When viewing a dark subject in Color Night View Mode, spots of white or colored light may appear in the image. This is a natural characteristic of the image sensor, and does not indicate a malfunction.
* *2 At 320 x 240 or 160 x 120 resolution.

Easy PoE Power Supply*
Power is supplied through the Ethernet cable, so the network camera can be easily installed on the ceiling, since no additional work is required for a power outlet.(Power can also be supplied by an optional AC adaptor.)

* * To use the BB-HCM581, Internet access equipment and a power supply consisting of either a Power over Ethernet Hub or an AC adaptor are required.

Audio 2-way Communication
By using a separately purchased microphone and speaker*2, you can speak to someone near the camera while monitoring (walkie-talkie type communication). This gives you more precise communication to lessen the inconvenience of being in a distant location.

*1-2 The audio feature does not work on cell phones. The talk button and listen button cannot be used simultaneously. Depending on data traffic and the network environment, the audio may be delayed or may break up.
*2 The speaker requires built-in or separate amplifier.

SD Memory Card Recording
A large number of images can be saved onto an SD/SDHC Memory Card inserted into the camera. The images on the card can be checked over the Internet, or if no network is being used, monitoring is possible using only the camera by simply storing the images onto the card.

* The SD Memory Card is sold separately. The camera supports 64MB, 128MB, 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, and 2GB SD Memory Cards.

Image Transfer Function
In accordance with preset settings*1, the camera will automatically transfer images and a data log by e-mail*2 to an e-mail address or by FTP to a server. This allows you to check images only when necessary, and also prevents you from forgetting to check them.

* *1 Preset settings can include timer, alarm, and motion detection. With JPEG connection only.
* *2 PDP before SMTP authentication and SMTP authentication (PLAIN, LOGIN and CRAM-MD5) are supported

Remote Pan and Tilt Control
You can use a PC or cell phone directly to change the direction that the camera is facing while monitoring the image. This lets you monitor a large area with a single camera.

Multi-camera Capability*1
Images from several cameras can be monitored and transceiver-type voice communication*2 can be used simultaneously.

* *1 Moving pictures from up to 9 cameras can be displayed on a single screen. Still images from up to 16 cameras can be displayed.
* *2 This function can be used only with a PC. It cannot be used with a cell phone.

Cell Phone Monitoring*
Still images from the camera can be checked on any cell phone that is capable of Internet access. The pan, tilt, and zoom functions can also be operated by using the cell phone.

* * Models that support JPEG only. The audio feature does not work on cell phones.
